CAPSTONE

IAC Mishelanu is an Israeli based organization that works with students on campus to connect them to career opportunities while also facilitating an educational space for other students. I worked with Mishelanu at FIU for two years as a social media fellow where I worked on creating graphics and promotional materials for events. In addition to this, I also coordinated events and was responsible for event planning. This job also allowed me to connect students with career opportunities which was especially meaningful and as I myself am Israeli, I felt that being part of this organization allowed me to stay connected with my culture and allowed me to share my culture with others.  My proudest achievement through this fellowship was working together with my coworker to create the "Build Your Future" Accelerator event which was an opportunity for all FIU students to come and participate in a full day's event with various guest speakers who had insight into the working world from various industries. This was an incredible opportunity to network and connect with work professionals as well as an event to learn more about breaking into new industries and how to create a name for yourself. We worked with the Honors College and StartupFIU to promote the event which started at 12 P.M. and ended at 8 P.M.. We created this event with the intent for it to be flexible; if you couldn't attend the morning activities, we would still have activities until evening so that as many students as possible could come and participate throughout the day. This event taught me a lot about the global context of trying to get started and creating a path for your career and helped me develop skills in communication and strategic planning.
